Abnormal Findings in 246 Consecutive Autopsies on Monkeys *
نویسنده
چکیده
Between December 1, 1938, and April 1, 1940, autopsy examinations have been made of 246 subhuman primates in the Laboratory of Physiology of the Yale University School of Medicine.t These routine examinations were made in order to obtain some normal and abnormal values for monkeys of those species most commonly used in laboratory experimentation. It was expected thereby to establish some standards for factors in health and disease, such as: size and weight of organs, normal variations, the incidence of infection, infestation, and developmental anomaly. The normal findings for weights and the descriptions of organs are published elsewhere.7 The present paper deals only with the grossly abnormal findings.

Introduction: Today, humans leave in a world surrounded by electromagnetic fields. Numerous studies have been carried out to discover the biological, physiological, and behavioral effects of electromagnetic fields on humans and animals. Given the biological similarities between monkeys and humans, the goal of the present research was to examine Visual Memory (VM), hormonal, genomic, and anatomi...

After eight of their ververt monkeys had died spontaneously during a four-year period, the staff of the Institute of Primate Research in Kenya developed an opportunistic research project when all their autopsies found multiple gastric ulcers and a high incidence of bite wounds. We measured ocular alignment in the horizontal direction for 17 monkeys reared under deprivation paradigms that involved monocular defocus, monocular occlusion and optically corrected aphakia coupled with continuous or partial occlusion of the fellow eye. Alignment was measured at 3 and 7 months with a photographic corneal light reflex method. Results showed that a majority of the monkeys in ea...
